STEAM Fair Information
This year P.S. 83 will be holding a Science Fair at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 8th. We hope you will be able to take an active part in the development of your child’s Science Project. Depending on the grade level of your child, projects will be completed as follows:
Timeline for individual projects:
12/16/24-12/20/24: Distribution of science fair information letter to students. Students begin gathering ideas for their project.
1/6/25: Students submit their investigative question/problem for approval and continue to research.
1/13/25-1/20/25: Students submit their claim for approval.
1/20-2/25/25: Students conduct their independent investigation/experiment to prove the claim. Students create boards or digital slides for class presentations.
2/25/25: Science Project Due
2/25/25- 3/05/25: Classroom Presentations begin and the teacher will select the top 3 from each class.
3/08/25:Science Fair 10:00-12:00pm

Knowledge of Science Facts
Overall Appearance
Kindergarten – Animals Project
Grade 1 – One class theme project
Grades 2-8 – Individual or 2 student group project if permitted by teacher. Students’ projects are expected to be related to the science curriculum for their grade level unless otherwise approved by their teacher.
**The use of live animals or insects IS NOT PERMITTED. Items of value SHOULD NOT be included.**

Judging:
The classroom teacher will judge all projects and select 3 semifinalists from the class. These projects will be displayed in the hallways outside the classrooms and will then be displayed on Saturday, March 8th at the school wide STEAM Fair Open House in the Annex Cafeteria. A panel of judges will select a class winner for each class in grades 2 - 8. A 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place school winner will be selected at 10:30 am from the class winner projects.
